Perched just above the Murray at Overland Corner (near Barmera), Parcoola Retreats is a design-led tiny stay with a twist – a modern tiny villa and a beautifully restored 1860s stone cottage come together to create one seamless Riverland escape.

Inside the tiny villa (Flow), you’ll find two loft-style queen beds dressed in French linen, a full kitchen, and gold tapware that adds just the right amount of shine. The cottage next door holds the real showstopper – a freestanding clawfoot bath made for slow, candlelit soaks.

Step outside and it’s all native gums, warm breeze, and a wraparound deck with plenty of room to lounge, dine, or sip wine under the stars. There’s even a firepit and kayaks if you feel like drifting downriver.

Here, mornings are slow and golden – coffee on the deck, birdsong in the trees, and nowhere else you need to be. Spend the day paddling the Murray, napping in the shade, or grazing your way through a locally sourced hamper.

As the light fades, light the fire, pour a glass, and sink into the outdoor tub while the stars start showing off. This is barefoot luxury in its purest form – quiet, romantic, and completely off the radar (in the best way).
